Support Long-Term Relief
Our Anorectal Therapy is an integrative approach used in the management of anorectal conditions. This therapy is designed to support the body’s natural healing processes, assist with symptom relief, and complement post-procedural care. Combining traditional and modern techniques, it offers non-surgical and minimally invasive options for individuals seeking supportive care for anorectal health. It also includes a chronic anal fissure wound care program, providing a practical option for individuals exploring different approaches.
Pursuing a Precision-Based Procedure
Our clinic provides minor medical procedures using minimally invasive techniques when clinically appropriate. Care is delivered in a private clinical setting following thorough assessment and individualized treatment planning. In selected cases, minor surgical management may be integrated with naturopathic approaches as part of care for persistent hemorrhoids and other common benign anorectal conditions, including anal fissures, skin tags, and selected perianal conditions.
At our Calgary hemorrhoid clinic, we provide comprehensive anorectal care and a range of minor medical procedures to help manage hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and other perianal conditions. Our approach focuses on promoting comfort, supporting healthy tissue, and reducing the risk of recurrence. Care may include gentle cleansing routines to maintain hygiene, warm sitz baths to ease discomfort, and professional guidance to protect sensitive tissues. For certain cases, minor medical procedures can be performed in-clinic, offering targeted treatment. Through personalized care plans and in-clinic services, our goal is to support long-term anorectal health and deliver effective relief from hemorrhoid and anal fissure symptoms.

Types of Hemorrhoids
Internal Hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids are the most common and occur inside the body. Over time, the hemorrhoids will start to push outside the anus and may prolapse. Internal hemorrhoids may not cause pain unless they become prolapsed. They can range in severity from Grade I to Grade IV. Symptoms include rectal bleeding, anal pain, and itching and irritation.
External Hemorrhoids
Inflamed and swollen veins below the dentate line or skin growth at the anus region. The most common symptoms are difficulty cleaning the anus region after bowel movements as well as pain arising from inflammation or blood clots in veins. Symptoms include pain in the anus, enlarged hemorrhoidal nodes, itching and irritation, rectal bleeding, and thrombosis.
Combined Hemorrhoids
Inflamed and swollen veins both above and below the dentate line. Major symptoms are typically a combination of both internal and external hemorrhoids and can include bright red blood-covered stools, prolapsed hemorrhoids, difficulty in cleaning the anus region after a bowel movement, itchiness, and mucous discharge. Symptoms include bright-red stool, mucousy discharge, rectal bleeding, anal pain, itching, irritation and prolapsed hemorrhoids.
Thrombosed Hemorrhoids
These are external hemorrhoids characterized by blood clots. The clots form when veins become inflamed and the blood supply is cut off. When this occurs, the hemorrhoids split and cause clot formation under the skin. This type can be extremely painful and requires surgery as treatment. Symptoms include blood clots, rectal bleeding, anal pain, itching and irritation.
Prolapsed Hemorrhoids
This is a type of internal hemorrhoid that slips below the anal cavity. This happens as the hemorrhoidal tissues become weak. Symptoms include rectal bleeding, anal pain, itching and irritation. Treatment of these hemorrhoids may involve the application of the proprietary Ba Zhi San ointment or the Golden Tie technique.
Grades of Hemorrhoids

Grade 1

- Some itchiness & discharge

Grade 3

- Enlarging hemorrhoid
- Prolapses upon defecation and will not retract unless pushed back in

Yes. You don’t have to live with hemorrhoids indefinitely. We provide treatment based on one’s differential diagnoses.
We do not provide banding or laser hemorrhoid removal treatments. Instead, we apply a naturopathic medicine approach, where we use the least invasive procedures whenever possible, such as minor surgery and herbal/botanical medicine, to treat different types of anorectal concerns.
We categorize hemorrhoids into four grades:
Grade 1: A greater amount of blood vessels and growth coming out of the anus that is generally painless.
Grade 2: Large enough to prolapse (come out of the anus) during a bowel movement but retract back inside on their own.
Grade 3: These prolapse on straining and need manual insertion back into the anus.
Grade 4: Large prolapsed hemorrhoids that stay outside the anus and cannot be manually inserted back inside the anus.
For us to properly treat your prolapsed hemorrhoids, we need to do a thorough assessment and properly grade your hemorrhoids. Then, we can apply our anorectal medicine to dry and shrink your hemorrhoids, but the examination must come first. Book your appointment today for a complimentary consultation.
Our anorectal medicine is a series of exclusive and proven ointments. First, it relieves pain, stops bleeding and heals wounds. Then, it allows the scars of the anal fissure to fall off so new tissue can grow. Our treatment plan is comprehensive. If you have anal stricture due to an anal fissure, call us for a complimentary consultation.
Everyone is different, with varying health conditions and concerns. Your treatment plan will be assessed by your doctor, and if you follow your treatment plan, you will regain control of your health in a timely manner.
